Identifying the relationship among teacher’s mental health and emotional intelligence and their burnout

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the relationship among teachers’ mental health and emotional intelligence and their burnout. The population consisted of Zanjan high school teachers (n=450). A sample of 208 teachers was selected using random sampling method. Data was collected using Goldberg’s mental health questionnaire, Maslach & Jackson’s burnout questionnaire and Bar-On’s emotional intelligence questionnaire. Researcher used structural equation modeling and regression analysis methods for data analysis. The results showed that there is a relationship among teachers’ mental health and emotional intelligence and dimensions of burnout (emotional exhaustion, inefficiency and depersonalization and pessimism).
